OldSchool rebirth: BMW M5 e28 CSL

Nu se compara nimic cu o masina reconditionata. Efortul depus, documentarea necesara, timpul necesar… toate acestea fac ca un proiect de reconditionare sa fie mult peste orice tuning aplicat unei masini noi.

Acum stiu ca sunt cativa printre voi mai pasionati de marca bavareza care vor striga ca nu a existat un , dar avand in vedere ca proprietarul a dorit sa-i spuna , chiar merita sa-i facem acest moft si sa-i zicem la fel :) Pana la urma, are destinatie de circuit si un setup track-spec serios.

Si ca sa zicem cateva vorbe de masina autentica, M5-ul e38 este primul care a primit oficial denumirea de M5. A fost fabricat in putin peste 2000 de exemplare, intre anii 1985 si 1988. Avea la baza sasiul de si o varianta upgradata a motorului gasit pe M1, adica un 3,5L – 6 in linie de 286cp (in Europa), ceea ce l-a facut la momentul lansarii cel mai rapid sedan de productie.

Cateva info tehnice ale masinii in cauza:

  • Body: w/o sunroof, rebuilt to coupé, extended safety rollcage, raceweight aprox ~1100kg with driver. Vented body – 200mm (8″) wider in rear, 160mm (6.3″) wider in front.
  • Engine: BMW S38B38 (6-cyl 3.8l-24v 365hk/8000rpm)
  • Gearbox: Getrag 260, shortshifted 5-speed.
  • Final drive: BMW Group A limited slip, 4 gear ratios available.
  • Front brakes: 6-piston aluminum calipers, 330mm (13″) rotors.
  • Rear brakes: 4-piston aluminum calipers, 303mm (12″) rotors.
  • Wheels front: 10×17” (rain), 10.5×16” (slick).
  • Wheels rear: 12×17” BBS (rain), 13×16” BBS (slick).
  • Tires front: 275-17” rain, 11,0-23,5-16” slick.
  • Tires rear: 335-17” rain, 12,5-25-16” slicks.
  • Chassie / suspension front: BMW Motorsport/Schnitzer 635CSi Grp.A. Suspension arms extended to allow more aggressive settings, wheelbase extended by 40 mm (1.6″), and track width extended by 80mm (3.1″).
  • Chassie / suspension rear: BMW Motorsport/Schnitzer 635CSi Grp.A, Suspension arms fully adjustable for camber/caster and toe. Reinforced A-arms and all stiff mounted joints, no rubber in attachement points.
